Tomorrow Is Thanksgiving Day Observed By The United States

You know that tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day observed by the United States. Thanksgiving Day is a harvest festival. Traditionally, it is a time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general. It is a holiday celebrated primarily in Canada and the United States. While perhaps religious in origin, Thanksgiving is now primarily identified as a secular holiday. Today, Thanksgiving is celebrated on different days in many countries. It is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States.Thanksgiving dinner is held on this day, usually as a gathering of family members and friends. You can see the information about this festival in detail from the following website: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thanksgiving.

For us Chinese, we prefer celebrating the western festivals like Thanksgiving observed by the United States. More and more western festivals have entered China after China’s development and opening-up policy executed in 1978. I mean this is an impulse of western culture to China which performs fiercer nowadays. Many people show their great concern about this social phenomenon and keep into deep thoughts why this trend is popular in Chinese people especially among the youngsters. But this generation might lose many traditional customs like the ancient festivals in China which have been compressed into several few important ones as the News year’s Day, the Dragon Boat Day and the Middle Autumn Day compared with so many western festivals. Is there any influence to the process of the development of China? Yes, of course. But you should also see that this is the inevitable cultural phenomenon and we should face it actively and positively. The key problem is how to correctly lead the young generation to build a positive attitude to our traditional and cultural heritages. If this sense of honor has been created among them, the superficial performances did not control their mind because they have their own attitude on how to deal with so many different thoughts and ideas. This is what we want to see later. And for me, I think this generation is not such a disappointing one and in the special political and economic environment in China, I believe that it is desirable to wait and see. At last, wish you a happy Thanksgiving Day and give our thanks to more people!
