Visiting Shanghai’s Historic Bund More Than Two Months Ago

There might be so long about more than one month that I did not update my Live Spaces space. Today is the day after the Middle-Autumn Festival this year. And although there are three days for free in this holiday, I do not go out to any places and only stay at the dorm. I think there are several and even more important things that I would do in this holiday and even in the next holiday of the National Day. I seldom used my camera after I bought it about four months ago. After that I still went to some places to take some photos including the pictures put out on the last entry. So later I would like to put out some more of them which I took at some other places. In this entry, I would some something about the common visiting place of Shanghai – Shanghai Bund.

Let us first know this place from the introduction of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Shanghai Bund is an area of Huangpu District in central Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The area centers on a section of Zhongshan Road (East-1 Zhongshan Road) within the former Shanghai International Settlement, which runs along the western bank of the Huangpu River, facing Pudong, in the eastern part of Huangpu District. The Bund usually refers to the buildings and wharves on this section of the road, as well as some adjacent areas. The Bund is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Shanghai. Building heights are restricted in this area. The Bund houses 52 buildings of various architectural styles such as Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neo-Classical, Beaux-Arts, and Art Deco (Shanghai has one of the richest collections of Art Deco architectures in the world). To see the detailed information of this place, please see this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Bund.

On July 5th, I went to Shanghai to register for the QEPA, where is so near to the Bund. So after I had done the task early in the afternoon, I walked to West Nanjing Road and the Bund to see the sight there. I saw the revitalization of historic districts through rehabilitation of historic buildings on the Bund.

on the entrance of the walking street on Nanjing Road

the words on the stele

the float running on the street

It is only the statue but really likes a real man as Li Xiaolong

the buildings along the bank of Huangpu River in the fog

On the top of some main buildings there are always red flags like this building of the Bank of China

the barge on the surface of Huangpu River

one special statue at the entrance to the visiting gallery along the bank of the river

the statue of Chen Yi, a famous proletarian revolutionary in the history of China

the wall covered with green plants to decorate the image of EXPO, Shanghai
