First Day as the New (Sixth) Freshman Class Teacher

Since I started to serve as a class teacher during my postgraduate studies, this year is the sixth class I have served as a class teacher. The first class was Class 021 of Process Control, the second class was Class 041 of Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, the third class was Class 121 of Indusrial Engineering, the fourth class was Class 161 of Indusrial Engineering, and the fifth class was Class 201 of Indusrial Engineering. As a professional course teacher with rich experience in class teacher work, I know what is the most important advice for freshmen. For this reason, on the first day of meeting the freshmen, I told them the most important experience of these years.

September 7th was the day for freshmen to register for school. As the class teacher of the freshmen, I went to the freshmen dormitory after lunch and sat down to talk with some freshmen and their parents. Let everyone recognize the characteristics, importance and significance of college life at the first time, so that they can first correct their ideological understanding, especially their understanding of the major. Starting from the first year of college, they need to have a very clear understanding of their major, what this major does, what kind of professional work they will do after graduation, what knowledge they need to learn around this major during the four years of college, and what professional skills they need to cultivate. This is especially true for Industrial Engineering, which is a typical multidisciplinary and complex major with many professional directions. For a college freshman who is about to come into contact with and seriously study to prepare for his or her future, it is particularly important to clarify the professional direction and have a deep understanding. Through comparative analysis with other sister colleges’ Industrial Engineering in terms of professional direction, application field, employment destination, salary, future prospects, etc., we objectively and specifically conduct an in-depth analysis of our school’s Industrial Engineering, find out the gaps, enhance crisis awareness, stimulate curiosity, and establish professional confidence.
