One Japanese TV series named “パズル” (in English “Puzzle”) is broadcasting on テレビ朝日 one piece a week since April 18, 2008. In each piece, there are one or more puzzles. The female leading role 鮎川美沙子 and other three clever students 今村真一, 神崎明 and 塚本善雄 who are all 18 years old all solve these puzzles together. Now I want to list some words puzzles here and give an analysis according to the development of the plot. I will list some as follows in episode five.
In this piece, there were some clues to find the treasure handed down from the ancestors of that clan. Half of the clues were a map for treasure and three sentences. Let’s first look at these sentences.
They are translated into English as follows: Believers can do but monks and priests can’t do. Polished rice can do but brown rice can’t do. The second daughter can do but the first daughter can’t do.
Here you should pay attention to the original text even the Chinese characters assemble game. From the above three sentences, you can see that only the former part of each sentence is useful and then you can see that “信” and “者” can assemble one word “儲” and “白” and “米” can assemble one word “粕” and “次” and “女” can assemble one word “姿”. The teacher found two words on the pot at the first step of test which were “白” and “木”. This might be the next password and as the above rule, you can see that “白” and “木” can assemble one word “柏”. Then on the map there was one place including this word which was “柏原”. That was actually where the first tester was killed.
At the second step of the test, you might pay attention to what the old woman said and here is the translation of it in English: Something can be in the mouth but can’t be in the nose. Something can be in the ear but can’t be in the eye. Something can be in the wood but can’t be in the water. Once it is opened, what was in it?
Do you know the answer? The old woman meant that you should put the above words into the word “门”. Let’s have a try. The first sentence is that you can put “口” into “门” and then you can get “问”. The second sentence is that you can put “耳” into “门” and then you can get “闻”. The third sentence is that you can put “木” into “门” and then you can get “闲”. And of course, you can easily analyses the last sentence which means once the door is opened, what is in it? Then you can see that it is “开”. And that is the symbol of the big doorpost at the entrance of the building offering sacrifices to ancestors. And of course the word “开” was still carved on the cap of the coffin and then it must be an entrance to somewhere. That was actually where the second tester was killed.
